the power of a plant-based diet

Mother/daughter team Amelia Kirchoff and Jola Sonkin co-founded GoMacro in 2005 at their family farm in Viola, Wisconsin. Amelia had been diagnosed with cancer in 2003 and credits a macrobiotic plant-based diet as key to her recovery.

GoMacro bars are USDA Certified Organic, Vegan, Gluten Free, Kosher, Non-GMO, and C.L.E.A.N, and FODMAP friendly! GoMacro partners with the Sustainable Food Trade Association, Carbonfree, and EPA Green Power.

Basics now carries several options including GoMacro Kids Macrobars flavors Cinnamon Roll, Peanut Butter Cup, Double Chocolate Brownie, and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip! Also available are Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Coconut Almond Butter Chocolate Chip, Maple Sea Salt, Blueberry Cashew, Mocha Chocolate Chip, Banana and Almond Butter, Lemon + Lemon, Cherries and Berries, Peanut Protein, and Dark Choclate with Almonds.

GoMacro bars can be found in the protein bar section of Aisle 4.

what is the macrobiotic diet?

The macrobiotic diet is based primarily on organic whole grains, local seasonal vegetables, fish and legumes. Macrobiotics places an emphasis on the balancing energy of different foods (yin and yang), including the energy transferred by the way the foods are grown and prepared. Macrobiotic diets vary but generally exclude all dairy, meat, sugar and sweets, caffeine, alcohol, many spices, many fruits, and vegetables in the nightshade family (including tomatoes, potatoes and peppers).
